According to this new infographic from eC02Greetings, there are 50 billion coffee cups that go straight into trash every year. So the next time you head over to your favorite coffee joint, think about this infographic, and consider buying a reusable coffee mug.
Single use coffee cups are not on Recycling List Ireland and cannot be put in the Recycling Bin. Up to 200 million single use coffee cups are thrown away every year in Ireland, and cannot be disposed of in recycling bins.
While plastic is a major concern, the paper component of coffee cups is not without its environmental harms either. Many paper cups that are downed and disposed of are made from virgin paper pulp.
